by e. e. cummings
(1894 - 1962)
now does our world descend
the path to nothingness
(cruel now cancels kind:
friends turn to enemies)
therefore lament,my dream
and don a doer's doom

create now is contrive;
imagined,merely know
(freedom:what makes a slave)
therefore,my life,lie down
and more by most endure
all that you never were

hide,poor dishonoured mind
who thought yourself so wise;
and much could understand
concerning no and yes:
if they've become the same
it's time you unbecame

where climbing was and bright
is darkness and to fall
(now wrong's the only right
since brave are cowards all)
therefore despair,my heart
and die into the dirt

but from this endless end
of briefer each our bliss -
where seeing eyes go blind
(where lips forget to kiss)
where everything's nothing
- arise,my soul;and sing

Political Labeling:- Stick a badge .... and call him evil!

From Wikipedia:-
Labeling theory
Originating in sociology and criminology, labeling theory (also known as social reaction theory) was developed by sociologist Howard S. Becker.[1] Labeling theory (synonymous to "identifying against") holds that deviance is not inherent to an act, but instead focuses on the linguistic tendency of majorities to negatively label minorities or those seen as deviant from norms. The theory is concerned with how the self-identity and behavior of individuals may be determined or influenced by the terms used to describe or classify them, and is associated with the concept of a self-fulfilling prophecy and stereotyping. The theory was prominent in the 1960s and 1970s, and some modified versions of the theory have developed. Unwanted descriptors or categorizations (including terms related to deviance, disability or a diagnosis of mental illness) may be rejected on the basis that they are merely "labels", often with attempts to adopt a more constructive language in its place. Labeling theory is also closely related to interactionism and social construction.

KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 — The police said today they are probing an alleged attempt by some Bersih activists to revive communism, and are investigating 30 Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) members, including Sungai Siput MP Dr Michael Jayakumar for “waging war against the Yang DiPertuan Agong.”

desperate people who planned the rally on July 9.
They see this as an opportunity
to stir up dissent and seize power”

******************************

Of late, the ruling Umno party (and its allies) seem to have got their knickers in a twist over the BERSIH 2.0 rally (planned for Saturday, 09.07.11).
Suhakam has gone public saying that a permit should be given.
The Police however refuse to give a permit for the rally- even before an application is made- and then declare it "Illegal".
This is despite the fact that there has never been any incidence of violence or destruction of public property in ANY public rally over the last 12 years!! This is also despite the fact that the ones who have made threats of violence (and indulged in violence) are those who are clearly opposed to BERSIH!!

Never mind the Kris waving episode & bloodlust of a certain politicians in the past, it is common knowledge that certain other politician has gone on record lately to say that Umno should "defend Putrajaya", even if it means "crushed bodies".
Their most vocal ally- PERKASA- has apparently decided to launch a rally of their own and even went to the extent of hinting at violence by urging the Malaysians of Chinese descent to "stock up on food" because "anything can happen".

Not to be left out, a certain political novice who heads a faction of UMNO joined in the chorus to have a rally of their own. The best joke here is that apparently, even he got a "death threat"- and so sent his hoodlums to threaten to burn down a certain building in retaliation!!

The police, in working to heighten the fear among people have gone on a spree of arrests ..... even those wearing T-shirt sporting BERSIH color/logo is apparently a crime these days.
(It used to be Black some time back- now it is Yellow).

BERSIH is accused of going on a hacking spree (which was launched by an anonymous hackers group) Ambiga Sreenivasan was called to make statements for insisting on BERSIH 2.0 rally, PSM is investigated for "trying to revive communism" and "waging war on the YDPA, Police invade the parliament to take statements from parliamentarians, Literary laureate Samad Said is questioned for reading of his "seditious" poetry ....
From Govt websites hacking to communism, to foreign infiltrators, Jewish/Christian/Hindu/Anti-Is
lam agents, chaos on the streets, to violence, to a "planned coup d'etat" - they're all apparently due to BERSIH!!!

When invited for "ideas" which the Govt may need (to place more accusations/labels on BERSIH), people have suggested the following :-
"The next tsunami, Teenage pregnancy! Tax evasion, HIV/AIDS, a wider budget deficit, Najib's receding hairline, losing the Olympic badminton final, feral dogs, killing off endangered Hornbills, Singapore being better than us in generally everything, the Thai insurgency, the ozone layer, rising petrol costs, and Penang traffic jams".
I wonder what will be next ... LGBT lifestyle? Alien spaceships? Global Warming?

One sad development was the fact that Dr D. Jeyakumar of Sungai Siput had to be hospitalized - apparently as a result of the deliberate negligence on the part of PDRM in denying him his medication. (Reports allege mental torture and other forms of ill-treatment of PSM campaigners arrested last Saturday).

As Art Harun says, we're definitely reaching The Tipping Point- wherein the morally bankrupt UMNO politicians appear to be bent on provoking retaliation from the rakyat through their abuse of state apparatus to let loose violent actions of repression, then justify their "pre-emptive" violent repression.

It seems like UMNO is making everything many of us have mentioned in the past about them seem like a prophecy ..... and wish to "destabilize to stabilize".

Sahabatku- Usman Awang

Sahabatku
(Kepada Dr M K Rajakumar)

Menemuimu ketika remaja dulu
Ketika kemarahan rakyat bermula
Di kota raya yang memancarkan suara-suara baru
Aku mengenali sekumpulan generasi mahasiswa
Dalam keghairahan menggengam idealisme
Menolongku memperteguh keyakinan
Persahabatan dan persamaan rakyat
Impian mewujudkan satu dunia baru.

Lama masa berlalu
Pengalaman dan usia mengajar kita
Betapa ideal mimpi alam remaja
Memetik bintang-bintang di cakerawala
Dengan jari dan puisi
Dengan buku dan teori
Tanpa membakar tangan
Tanpa menghaguskan badan.

(Kini pun masih kutemui lagi
Orang-orang muda yang setengah berani
Sesekali datang membisikkan impian
Untuk membakar bintang menjolok bulan:
Aku macam memutar kembali
Pita rakaman silam.)

Sahabatku
Suatu bangsa merdeka yang kita impikan
Terasa jauh dari kenyataan
Kemarahanku menjadi kepedihan
Bila kita dipisah-pisahkan
Jarak itu semakin berjauhan
Aku dapat gelaran ‘bumiputera’ dan kau bukan.

Di klinikmu masih kutemui keramahan
Ketika jantungku hampir dilumpuhkan
Engkaulah pertama mendengar degupannya
Menyukat tekanan darah di salur nadi
Melihat paru-paru tuaku kehitaman bersawang
Asap rokok yang sangat kau benci.

Percayakah?
Aku dapat pula mendengar detak jantungmu
Detak jantung yang dulu
Kehidupan baru untuk masyarakat baru
Impian satu bangsa merdeka
Kebenaran dan keadilan yang sama
Sebagaimana pesan nenek moyang:
‘Hati kuman sama dicicah
Hati gajah sama dilapah’.

Bilakah kita dapat memadamkan
Perbezaan keturunan yang kian membakar kita
Dan membiarkan curahan minyak yang kian menyala
Oleh mereka yang sering bermuka dua?

Bilakah kita dapat mempertaruhkan nasib
anak-anak kita yang tak berdosa
dan generasi akan datang keturunan kita
oleh mereka yang mementingkan laba dan kuasa?

Bilakah kita dapat menimbusi jurang perbezaaan
kemiskinan dan kelaparan dengan kekayaan berlebihan
Antara dua golongan dan darjat masyarakat
Suatu janji dari erti kemerdekaan rakyat?

Bilakah semua warga negara mendapat hak
layanan dan keadilan yang sama
Dikenal dengan satu rupa nama:
Bangsa Malaysia?

Unggun Bersih

Bersih 2.0 chief S Ambiga and national laureate A Samad Said have been called to the Dang Wangi police station today to have their statements recorded. It is understood that the duo will be asked to give their statements in relation to the official launch of the Bersih 2.0 rally two weeks ago.

Abdul Samad bin Muhammad Said, pen name A. Samad Said (born 9 April 1935) is a Malaysian poet and novelist who, in May 1976, was named by Malay literature communities and many of the country's linguists as the Pejuang Sastera [Literary Exponent] receiving, within the following decade, the 1979 Southeast Asia Write Award and, in 1986, in appreciation of his continuous writings and contributions to the nation's literary heritage, or Kesusasteraan Melayu, the title Sasterawan Negara.

Unggun Bersih
~ A. Samad Said

Semakin lara kita didera bara —

kita laungkan juga pesan merdeka:

Demokrasi sebenderang mentari

sehasrat hajat semurni harga diri.

Lama resah kita — demokrasi luka;

lama duka kita — demokrasi lara.

Demokrasi yang angkuh, kita cemuhi;

suara bebas yang utuh, kita idami!

Dua abad lalu Sam Adams berseru:

(di Boston dijirus teh ke laut biru):

Tak diperlu gempita sorak yang gebu,

diperlu hanya unggun api yang syahdu.

Kini menyalalah unggun sakti itu;

kini merebaklah nyala unggun itu.

The purpose is to raise awareness on the
eight electoral demands of Bersih 2.0.

However, the organisers could not proceed with the road show due to heavy presence of the police, whom have cordoned off the whole area surrounding Uptown, disallowing any organisers and participants from accessing the facilities.

In Johore, seven other activists from Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) were arrested for leafleting Bersih 2.0 materials in Kluang. The OCPD alleged that the materials may be seditious.

Vandals strike in Perlis in

bid to 'provoke' Bersih

(Harakah Daily) - A spate of vandalisation of private properties here has Perlis PAS sounding a warning of attempts to paint a negative image on the electoral reforms rally planned in Kuala Lumpur on July 9.

In one incident, vandals spray-painted the word "Bersih 2.0" on a Toyota Camry car parked near a supermarket here, while a wall nearby was painted "Joint Bersih 2.0" [sic] in large letters.

A stone's throw away, another wall was sprayed with the graffiti "Hidup PAS" ("Long Live PAS").

Why did the Magee-strate allow Shafee to declare expert opinion

Was that considered a mitigating factor or what?

SYABAS disrupts water supply- by design?

"...Selangor executive councillor Elizabeth Wong
stressed that the water disruption was
not due to an inadequate water supply
but rather maintenance work by Syabas."

Selangor faults Syabas for Klang Valley water disruption

SHAH ALAM, June 22 — The Selangor state government has blamed Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) for the 48-hour water supply disruption that has affected a million Klang Valley residents since this morning.

Syabas said the protracted dispute over the restructuring of Selangor’s water industry made it difficult for the firm to invest in solutions to redistribute supply from other plants to areas affected by cut.

However, Selangor executive councillor Elizabeth Wong stressed that the water disruption was not due to an inadequate water supply but rather maintenance work by Syabas.

She added that the water level at the state’s water dams still remain high.

“The statement made by Syabas blaming the water restructuring negotiations is not accurate since the privatisation of water began in 1997 and Syabas has not carried out upgrading works of water treatment plants,” she told reporters during a press conference here.

Elizabeth also asked the Ministry of Energy, Water and Green Technology to review the efficiency and ability of Syabas in managing the state’s water supply.

Syabas announced the cut yesterday affecting Kuala Lumpur as well as the Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Selangor districts where residents have had to stock up on water in anticipation of the long supply cut that will only be restored on Friday.

Both state and federal governments have been locked in a struggle over water assets in Selangor since Pakatan Rakyat (PR) took control of the state in 2008, with neither side wanting to cede control to the other over the critical industry.

The state government had made an offer of RM9 billion for the assets of the concessionaires but the group had rejected it, calling the offer “ambiguous.”

The national water industry restructuring scheme has been delayed by a dispute over the price of the privatised assets in Selangor, which also provide water to the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

Selangor made the RM9 billion combined offer to the four water concessionaires in Selangor — Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd (PNSB), Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas), Konsortium Abass Sdn Bhd (ABASS) and Syarikat Pengeluar Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Splash).

Selangor, which already owns 80 per cent of the state’s water supply assets, is preparing to take over the remaining assets after Putrajaya said it did not object to direct negotiations between the state government and concessionaires.

Selangor intends to retain management of the water assets, which also cover the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. A project to obtain water from Pahang has also been delayed due to the issue.

The state government has made two previous offers for the water assets. The first offer — RM5.7 billion for assets and equity — was turned down by all four players, while the second RM9.4 billion offer — this time including liabilities — was rejected by Syabas and sister company PNSB.

Control of Selangor’s water assets is important to PR so it can set tariffs and fulfil its campaign promise of free water for all residents in the state.

LulzSec, Anonymous, Antisec- CyberWars Begin?!!

**NOTE:- MCMC>Anak Yatim ... Beware!

===========================================

June 20, 2011 6:24 PM EDT

LulzSec is no longer just about lulz. It has found a cause in carrying on the works of Wikileaks.

The group launched Operation Anti-Security in partnership with hacker collective Anonymous. The operation calls for all Netizens to launch attacks on any government website that comes across their paths.

Most recently, LulzSec took down the website of the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), a UK law enforcement organization.

However, Operation Anti-Security's most important purpose is to “steal and leak any classified government information.” The prime targets will be banks and other high-ranking establishments.

Although LulzSec didn’t mention Wikileaks by name (it did list http://wikileaks.ch/ as a website it supports), that’s exactly what Wikileaks does.

The only difference is that Wikileaks obtains secret information from willing informants while LulzSec plans to steal it through hacking.

What injustice and scandals is LulzSec trying to expose? What is it upset about?

That isn’t crystal clearly due to the signature tongue-in-cheek language of LulzSec manifestos. However, the group mentioned Internet freedom, privacy, and combating systemic corruption.

It also listed four websites it supports:

http://www.mithral.com/~beberg/manifesto.html

http://www.youtube.com/user/thejuicemedia

http://wikileaks.ch/ (Wikileaks)

http://anonyops.com/ (Anonymous)

Wikileaks and Anonymous are already well-known.

The Mithral link is to a hacker manifesto that rails against “profiteering gluttons” who try to control the information world. The Youtube link is to an alternative news media website that mocks the US government and other elite institutions.

Below is a song from the website that was mentioned by LulzSec’s Twitter account:
